Monday   2nd & 4th Mondays at 2:00pm. – Led by Vern Schaefer Rotating Hostesses: Herb & Shirley Bernthal, Spike & Dolores Hermes, Joe & Barbara Raleigh, Maxine Reihman.

 LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH.

The world promises that abortions, embryo experiments, and physician-assisted suicides will achieve peace. But wherever death establishes an empire, it excuses nobody and enslaves all to grief. The life-giving Spirit that Jesus bestows in His Gospel instead produces the real peace of being unconditionally loved by and infinitely precious to the Ruler of the Universe (John 16:27). And this peace is for all persons and all circumstances (Acts 2:17-21).  (Pentecost)

NYG PREPARE The NYG is an amazing experience, as long as you can get to all the things to see. To help get ready, the Youth Ministry Team is leading an NYG Prepare event at Lake Atalanta, today from 12:30-2:30. All are welcome to join us as we walk around the lake, enjoy a lunch, and have a small Bible study.

LIFE QUOTES  “God’s Word resonates loudly the truth that EVERY life is a human being, SOMEONE created by GOD, and redeemed by the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, and called into a relationship with God by the Holy Spirit. As Gospel-motivated voices for life, we MUST do our research, measure it against God’s plumb line, and speak up to expose the lies and proclaim the truth—God’s VOICE of TRUTH!” Lynette Auch, president of Lutherans For Life –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

YEEHAW VBS The education team is changing things up a bit this year with our VBS. Instead of a 5-day program, we opted for a 2-day weekend event to set Holy Trinity apart from the many other VBS programs in our area. It will go from July 27th & 28th from 5pm-8pm. A free meal will be provided from 5-5:30pm with the program starting at 5:30pm. We have several positions that need to be filled including Corral Craft station leader and our MC as well as crew guides. We will need a lot of help with this ministry so please talk to Cameron if you are interested!

FAITH & FILM The Ed Team is putting together a family film night once each month for the summer. The first movie will be on June 23rd at 5:00pm in the chapel and we will be watching Find Nemo and talking about how our Father relentlessly comes after us when we are lost. There will be a free will offering taken to support Snack Packs for Kids – a program that provides food for children over the weekends. Please invite friends and family!

YOUTH FLOAT TRIP – is planned for June 19th! Seating is limited so please let Cameron know by June 12th if you plan on coming along and if you have your own kayak/canoe. We will be leaving church around 8am and get back in the early evening, around 4 normally. The backup date if we have bad weather on the 19th is June 26th.

YOUTH SUMMER SWIM –  is planned for June 26th so long as we have good weather for the float. We will be at the Wrights for a grill out and swim session. Friends are encouraged.

SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS – We are in need of a few awesome souls to help teach during the summer. We have one class and lessons are all provided and straight forward. Please consider and pray on this ministry opportunity and speak with Cameron if you are interested or have questions.

TO THINK ABOUT   Remember, growing older is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

We make a Living by what we get. We make a Life by what we give.

 LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH.

Abortion advocates sometimes claim the Scriptures are silent about the practice. However, the Greek term for the “sorcerers” condemned in Revelation 22:15 also refers to those who prepared abortifacients. On the other hand, every story entrusted to the Lord of Life ends beautifully (Revelation 22:1-5)—even if it involves a surprise pregnancy or a terminal diagnosis. (Easter VII)

LIFE QUOTES  “Instead of dreaming of what your spouse will do for you, you should ask yourself, are you willing to serve him or her sacrificially? To paraphrase John F. Kennedy: Ask not what your spouse can do for you, rather ask what you can do for your spouse.” Pastor Ricky Jacob, Jesus Our Savior Lutheran Church and preschool, Winnebago –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

IT’S NOT TOO LATE!  If you pick up a baby bottle TODAY, you will have TWO weeks to fill it with spare change (or a check) before it’s due back to church on Father’s Day (June 16th).  All money collected in the baby bottles goes to Loving Choices – a local pregnancy center.  If you have any questions about the Baby Bottle campaign, please see a member of the Outreach Ministry Team.

THANK YOU!  Thank you to EVERYONE (Dave & Wendie Ferguson, Dave & Christy Lehenbauer, Evan Wright, Shirley Bernthal, Karen Launderville, and Ray Eschenburg) who volunteered at Helping Hands in Bentonville last Saturday!  The help was MUCH appreciated!  Can’t handle the four-hour shifts?  Consider shift splitting. Two of our volunteers did this on Saturday and really enjoyed it!  If you are interested in volunteering, or have questions about this, please contact Dave Ferguson or a member of the Outreach Ministry Team.

IT’S A WIN!!  The Arkansas Naturals won the ballgame in the 9th inning Tuesday night!  Thank you to all who attended Lutheran Night at Arvest Ballpark on the 28th.  The weather was FANTASTIC and the game was a thrill to watch!  A special thank you to Matt Bolte who drove the church van to and from the game so a few church members and Soul’s Harbor men could attend.  A BIG thank you to Matt Bolte and the Outreach Ministry Team for the FREE tickets!!  Check out our Facebook page for pictures of the evening.  We hope to make this an annual event.

YOUTH SUMMER MIX ACTIVITIES Summer is upon us and school is finished for the semester. So it is time to kick back and have some fun! We have many different activites scheduled for our youth this summer and it starts with a BBQ at the Pullmann house on June 5th from 5-7pm. We will be posting in the News and Notes as we draw closer to events. For a full list of events, head to holytrin.org/youth or email cameron@holytrin.org

NYG PREPARE The NYG is an amazing experience, as long as you can get to all the things to see. To help get ready, the Youth Ministry Team is leading an NYG Prepare event at Lake Atalanta June 9th from 12:30-2:30. All are welcome to join us as we walk around the lake, enjoy a lunch, and have a small Bible study.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED  Laurie Martin is still looking for 4 volunteers to help with steam cleaning the pews in the Sanctuary.  Laurie is hoping to get this done in late June, or early July.  Doing the cleaning in-house will result in a significant savings.  The last time this was done, it was contracted out for $1,200.

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH.  Speaking and acting as Gospel-motivated voices for life sometimes meets with frustration and discouragement. Nevertheless, what we call our failures God calls His patience. The sanctity of life is not our project but His holy truth and will. The courageous and compassionate proclamation of it cannot fail to bring forth fruit, however small or slow (Acts 16:13-15). Take heart—He who has overcome the world abides in this cause (John 16:33). (Easter VI)

LIFE QUOTES  “Ascension Day, a holy day falling inconspicuously on a Thursday in May, is the conspicuous declaration that we are not left as orphans. In the same post-resurrection body that He invited Thomas to touch, Jesus invites us to full humanity even today. He ascended with a body, He shares in our humanity, extending His own body even now, promising to return for our own bodies. Christ is preparing a room for us, and we can know it is real because He himself is real.” Jill Carattini, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

LCMS NATIONAL OFFERING On June 9th we will join with LCMS churches across the nation in taking a special offering to support the LCMS and their mission to spread God’s word to the world.

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH.  What God has made clean, do not call common” (Acts 11:9). The same grace that sanctifies our consciences also safeguards the lives of the least of these. By creating them with His own fingers (Psalm 139:13), redeeming them with His own blood (2 Corinth-ians 5:19), and calling them with His own Spirit and Word (Matthew 28:19), the Lord our God has declared every member of our race, including embryos and elderly ones, not only clean but precious. (Easter V)

LIFE QUOTES  Both before and after their births, our children are precious lives belonging to God and redeemed by Him. (Their mothers are, too.) Each of our days is ordained by Him, including the challenging days of motherhood.” Marie K. MacPherson, author of “Meditations on the Vocation of Motherhood”–If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH.  Among motherhood’s greatest works is comforting distraught little ones. Where the world would wipe out lives by murder, the Lamb once slain but raised again mothers us by wiping away our tears (Revelation 7:17). Heavenly Father’s forgiveness and salvation heal even the guilt of abortion, the grief of terminal diagnosis, and the fear of complicated pregnancy. The Hand that rules the world also rocks the cradle. (Easter IV/Mother’s Day)

LIFE QUOTES  “[I]t does not say that the honoring, serving, and obeying one’s parents is conditional or in response to their earning or deserving it. No, one is to love and cherish them as well as honoring, serving, and obeying them as if they were God Himself … The good news is that where we have obviously failed, Jesus did not. He not only honored His step-father Joseph and his mother Mary, but also His heavenly Father. He offers you His payment for your sin and a place in God’s family, now and forever.” Pastor Ricky Jacob, Jesus Our Savior Lutheran Church and preschool, Winnebago –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED on Monday, May 13. Holy Trinity will be one of the Food Pantry's that will reap some of the benefits of the Post Office Carriers food drive. We still need volunteers to help check for expiration dates, sort, and store the food. Please sign up in Narthex or call the office.

OUTREACH MINISTRY TEAM  A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped provide a chili dinner for the families utilizing the Ronald McDonald House at Mercy Hospital in Rogers.  Volunteers included:  Jan Wildenborg, Shirley Bernthal, Donna Spencer, Libby Garner, Joyce Bauer, Gerri Jennings, and the Bolte family.  It was a huge success!  The staff at the Ronald McDonald House sent the following email after the dinner:

Hello Casey and Church friends!  Thank you again for providing dinner tonight!  I enjoyed getting to meet you and your family, and I wanted to let you know that after you left, the chili was soon devoured!  Family and friends gathered around the dining table to consume your yummy chili dinner, and it was such a nice sight to see.   We appreciate the time and care you spent to provide a delicious meal for our families, and we know the families greatly appreciate it too.  Please send our gratitude to the rest of your church family.

Thank you once more – Ronald McDonald Family Room Staff

While we were dropping off the meal, the staff mentioned there several openings to provide meals in the coming months.  If you are interested in providing a dinner on your own or with a small group of friends, please visit www.rmhcofarkoma.org to sign up.  If you need help signing up, please contact Casey Bolte at 479.644.3618

BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN  Please be sure to pick up a baby bottle from the table in the Narthex on your way out of church today.  Fill the bottle with spare change (or a check) and return it to church on Father’s Day.  This is part of the annual Baby Bottle Campaign put on by Loving Choices.  The Outreach Ministry Team had a chance to tour the facility in April and were VERY impressed by what they have to offer.  Loving Choices supports families from “I think I might be pregnant” to 9 months after delivery!  They even have a mobile van (with an ultrasound machine inside) that parks in various locations throughout Northwest Arkansas including the parking lot across from Planned Parenthood in Fayetteville.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME Don’t miss an amazing opportunity to attend Lutheran Night at Arvest Ballpark on TUESDAY, MAY 28TH.  The signup sheet is on the bulletin board in the Narthex.  We met the minimum ticket sales needed to get the discounted rate!  AND, Matt Bolte has generously used a Thrivent Action Team to support this Outreach event, therefore the first 40 tickets are FREE!  Thanks Matt!!  We also plan to provide 10 free tickets to Souls Harbor so they can join us – what a tremendous opportunity to show the men that Holy Trinity loves them and supports their efforts!!

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH. Even the one whose faculties are declining and whose dying appears undignified shines in the light of God’s love and power (John 21:18-19). Jesus who rose, reigns, and is returning smuggles blessings in every burden. His gracious guidance speedily and mightily conducts dances out of dirges (Psalm 30:11). And He extends this compassion to every human being without exception (Revelation 5:9)!  (Easter III)

LIFE QUOTES  “Whoa. What a cool thought! Before your parents ever laid eyes on you before they fought over whether to name you John Jr. or Steven, God knew your name and He wanted you as his. In fact, it goes back further than you think. Before God even created the very first parents, He knew you were coming someday and He chose you, specifically you, for his team.” Diane Kerr, Time of Grace –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

HELPING HANDS - Saturday, May 25th is the next volunteer event for Holy Trinity to support Helping Hands. This faith-based organization provides food for around 100 families each week and needs our help to run their store. If you can spare a few hours of time, you will be supporting a great cause and getting an extra discount on merchandise at the same time! Please sign up in the Narthex or see Dave Ferguson.

VISIT ISRAEL  Have you ever considered visiting the Holy Land?  I know that every person who has done so would encourage you to pray about it and to go.  In fact I can point out several people in our congregation who have been and can tell you all about it.  Why go?  It will deepen your faith in ways you cannot imagine.  When you read the Bible and it talks about places you can say I’ve been there.  You will be able to relate and understand in a new way.  I am leading another group to Israel January 15th – 26th, 2020.  An information packet is on the bulletin board in the Narthex or just contact me and I’ll be glad to give you a copy.  Pam Pickett 479-601-2550 pamsue27@gmail.com

POST OFFICE ANNUAL LETTER CARRIERS FOOD DRIVE  Please tell everyone you know that on Saturday, May 11th, there will be the Rogers Post Office's Annual Letter Carriers Food Drive. This year they need help getting the word out by social media or by word of mouth. To participate in the food drive just leave a bag of food by your mail box on Saturday, May 11th.

On Monday, May 13th, Holy Trinity will be one of the Food Pantry's that will reap some of the benefits of this drive. We will need a volunteer driver with a pick up truck (and at least one volunteer helper) to go to the post office on Monday, May 13th after 9 A.M. to pick up a truck load of food. As we have done in the last couple of years we will need approximately 10 volunteers to help check for expiration dates, sort, and store the food. Please call the office, or email Elaine (elaine@holytrin.org) or Krista (krista@holytrin.org) if you are willing and able to help with this important project. Thank you ~ Krista Malone~

THANK YOU  I would like to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers, Get Well Cards & gift card. I am happy to be back to work serving the Lord and sharing God's love to others.  I also want to thank Joyce Bauer, Christy Lehenbauer, and Pat Rader, and anyone else that I don't know of, that helped out in the office while I was off work. You are appreciated! Thank you so much. ~ Krista Malone~

LOVING CHOICES BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN:  This is an annual community-wide fundraiser for Loving Choices.  Our church has participated for the past several years and it fits well with this year’s Outreach focus of children and local charities.  Be sure to pick up a baby bottle in the Narthex on Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 12th) and fill it with spare change, cash, or a check and return it by Father’s Day (Sunday, June 16).

 LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH.

“Young men and maidens together, old men and children! Let them praise the name of the Lord[!]” (Psalm 148:12-13). Every life—however little, however weak, however seemingly miserable—has been brought forth by our good God for joyful purpose. He takes hold of even the most hopeless-looking situations (Revelation 1:18) to show—and share—His abundant, everlasting life (John 20:27). Behold it, believe it, and receive it!  (Easter II)

LIFE QUOTES  “Death is the enemy of the human race—an enemy no one can fight or avoid forever. But God has done a new thing—He has raised Jesus Christ from the dead, never to die again. What other god has done anything like that in all the stories and fables? But wait, there’s more. What god has ever promised to share everlasting life with everyone who trusts in Him? Only the true God. Only Jesus.” Daily Devotions from Lutheran Hour Ministries–If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

APRIL IS TORNADO AND SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS MONTH  As part of a four-part Emergency Plan Series, the Holy Trinity Safety Team has designated April as Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness month. During this period, members of the congregation will be briefed on what to do during a weather emergency and will be provided instructions on the location of the designated tornado shelter area in the church. Instructional brochures will be provided for each family.

GOOD NEWS REGARDING THE FOOD PANTRY  Krista Malone, our dedicated Office Assistant suffered a fall which resulted in a broken leg.  Krista’s continues to heal and has decided to return to work beginning Monday (at least for a few hours per day).  In my opinion, Krista will still need some volunteer help on Monday, Thursday, and Friday from Noon to 4 pm and on Tuesday from 9 am to 1 pm. You do not need to stay for the full 4 hours.  Any block of time will be helpful.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.  There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.

 LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH.

A surprise pregnancy or an incurable condition can leave us feeling like we have to make friends with death just to keep from suffering alone. But God goes with us as our Savior and Father even into death’s domain (Psalm 16:10). And He never escorts us there without also carrying us through it (Psalm 16:11). We don’t have to surrender a single breath, because every Good Friday finds its Easter Sunday in Jesus!

EASTER BREAKFAST join us for breakfast in the Life Center starting at 8:15a. All proceeds go to support our youth and their trip to the National Youth Gathering

LIFE QUOTES  “When the devil speaks, do not believe the lies. Whether your life be young or old, the deceit of death will enter it. You will walk by caskets. You will lie in a hospital bed. You will hear the devil speak in his native language. His lies will come to you just as they did to me. See through his faulty speech. Recognize his broken narrative. Deny every phony word. Christ calls you a Christian, and the devil’s language holds no truth. When the deceit of death enters your life, listen to the truth Christ speaks on this day … ‘He will speak again. You will visit family again. She will greet you again. Christ will rise again.’” Rev. Paul Spaude, Martin Luther College  –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE FOOD PANTRY  Krista Malone, our dedicated Office Assistant suffered a fall which resulted in a broken leg.  Krista’s orthopedic doctor reports that surgery will not be necessary, however it will be necessary for her to keep the leg immobilized in order for it to heal.  In order for the Food Pantry to remain open at our current level, we need volunteers for Thursday, and Friday from Noon to 4 pm and on Tuesday from 9 am to 1 pm. You do not need to stay for the full 4 hours.  Any block of time will be helpful.  Times that we cannot find a volunteer to staff the pantry will mean closing our doors.  We have place a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE MEAL   Saturday May 4th, we will once again be serving a meal to the families of people staying overnight at the Ronald McDonald House at Mercy Hospital.  These parents are staying overnight due to serious illnesses to their children in the hospital.  We can show Jesus’ love to the parents and children by providing this meal.  The sign-up for this is on the bulletin board.

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH.

– Our Almighty Maker reserves the right and responsibility for decisions about life and death (Deuteronomy 32:39). Jesus has earned this authority by swallowing up death in His crucifixion. And He has proven Himself trustworthy in life-and-death matters by bringing forth joy even from sorrow in His resurrection. What a great relief! The times and terms of human lives and deaths rest securely in His loving and saving hand. (Palm Sunday)

EASTER BREAKFAST Next Sunday, join us for breakfast in the Life Center starting at 8:15a. All proceeds go to support our youth and their trip to the National Youth Gathering. If you want donate food for this event, check the bulletin board in the narthex for donation slips.

LIFE QUOTES  “This Sunday, the church [invites] the world to remem-ber the One who comes into the midst of a very fickle humanity—duplicity, defeat, violence, injustice, pain, and all. He comes near to good and bad intentions, near the ashes of what was meant to be honor, the ruins of attempts on our own. And despite our oscillating thoughts, despite the sin we cannot leave, He invites us into a disruptively different sort of story of defeat. The Son has made his triumphal entry. And yet He comes to bring us the cross, to the one sacrifice that speaks to the world’s pain.” Jill Carattini, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries – –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH.

Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!” (Psalm 126:5). Choosing life isn’t always easy. Enduring illnesses, giving birth, caring for children, and speaking truth in love often involve suffering. However, our good Lord forms all people—and their circumstances—for Himself. And life received from Him brings celebrations that eclipse all sorrows. Whoever trusts Christ’s grace will also take hold of His glory (Philippians 3:8-11).

LIFE QUOTES  Jesus came to save us, to show love to us; He came because He is pro-life, pro-eternal life, and He came to give eternal life to you, to me, to those children unwanted by anyone else, to those mothers who have fallen into sin, to the disabled and elderly forgotten by everyone else. Jesus came for you, not to condemn you, but to save you. He came to destroy death with all of its power over us, and His Easter victory, which we will celebrate very soon, is a day of life, eternal life, for all.” Rev. Christopher Maronde, pastor of Saint John Lutheran Church, Decatur, Indiana (Lent V)  –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

NEWS AND NOTES  Last Sunday’s edition of New and Notes contained duplicate second and third pages.  I apologize for the error.  This makes a really good case for receiving the electronic version since the error occurred in the printing process.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE FOOD PANTRY  Krista Malone, our dedicated Office Assistant suffered a fall which resulted in a broken knee.  As of now, her prognosis is unknown.  Time and medical appointments will tell us more, but presently we are looking at a minimum two week duration.  In order for the Food Pantry to remain open at our current level, we need volunteers for Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from Noon to 4 pm and on Tuesday from 9 am to 1 pm.  Times that we cannot find a volunteer to staff the pantry will mean closing our doors.  Please call or email Elaine or Cameron if you can help.

OUTREACH MINISTRY TEAM  Thank you SO much to everyone that helped provide a spaghetti dinner on Saturday to the families utilizing the Ronald McDonald House area at Mercy in Rogers.  The meal was much appreciated!  If you missed out on helping with this meal, no worries - we are doing it again on Saturday, May 4th.  A signup sheet is on the permanent bulletin board in the Narthex.  This is a really easy outreach opportunity that anyone can do.  Feeling adventurous and want to do this on your own or with a group of friends?  It’s easy!  Go to www.rmhcofarkoma.org.  Click on Get Involved and then choose Share-A-Meal from the drop down menu.  Choose the Rogers location on the next screen and you can see a calendar with available dates through the end of July.  If you have any questions, please contact a member of the Outreach Ministry Team.  Thank you!!

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH. Many who take part in violence against life feel like prodigals (Luke 15:13). Our Lord never ceases to see Himself as Father even to these (Luke 15:22-24). He breaks His heart open as much for them as for their victims. He keeps reaching out in reconcilia-tion with the relief, healing, and cheer they seek. We know the way to our generous God because He has guided us on that way Himself.  (Lent IV)

LIFE QUOTES  God is the ultimate Designer. He designed the greatest good the world has ever seen to come from the most heinous evil mankind has ever produced. You are never too stained for God to love. When you are feeling weak and foolish, give thanks to God for that, because that’s exactly the kind of person that God likes to use.” Rev. Dan Larsen, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, Wabasso, Minnesota, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Sanborn, Minnesota –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE DINNER After a long day at the hospital, there’s nothing more appreciated than a home-cooked meal.  Let’s get together and prepare a comforting meal for families utilizing the Ronald McDonald house area at Mercy Hospital in Rogers.  The Outreach Ministry team has committed our church to serve dinner on Saturday, April 6th.  Please use the sign-up sheet in the Narthex to provide part of the meal.  Items are due at church by 4:00pm on that Saturday.  We won’t know how many people we will be serving until the day before – plan on 8 to 20 people.  As soon as we find out, we will call, text, or email you with the headcount – so please be sure to list a phone number or email when you sign up.  THANK YOU!!

LOST AND FOUND  A jar of soup labels was found in the church.  Please call the office to claim.

LENT – AN EARLY START TO SPRING CLEANING  Although Lent often starts before Spring, it is an appropriate time for spring cleaning.  The Word “Lent” comes from old German and English words for “Spring.”  So while it may be too soon to open windows or hang clothes on a line, this is an ideal time for spiritual spring cleaning.  Lent calls us to examine our beliefs, confess and dispose of old grudges and selfish habits, dust off our Bibles for a new routine of study and prayer, air out our hearts and brighten our attitudes.  “Lent Cleaning” lets the Holy Spirit freshen our faith – and it is never to early for that.

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCHGod finds no pleasure in death (Ezekiel 33:11), whether of the wicked or of the innocent. Neither will we, particularly since He has delivered us instead into the position of watchmen for life (Ezekiel 33:7). We have responsibility for warning about the evils of abortion, embryo experiments, and physician-assisted suicide (Ezekiel 33:8). And we get the privilege of winning over hearts, rescuing eternities, and making brothers of neighbors (Ezekiel 33:14-16) by the Gospel of His unconditional love. (Lent III)

LIFE QUOTES  The Virgin Mary’s womb became the dwelling place of the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, the Word by whom all things were made. Within the first month, the heart of the Logos in human flesh was beating, like ours, with electrical impulses, pumping blood through His body, blood He would later shed for our sins. But the full miracle of the Incarnation was not just in seeing the Man in the flesh but much more: in Mary’s Son we saw with our eyes real things that are only visible by their effects: divine mercy, love, compassion, faith, meekness, and justice “ James M. Kushiner, The Fellowship of St. James –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

GREETERS, READERS, VIDEO OPERATORS, OFFICE HELPERS.   Second Quarter schedules are in your mailbox.  Please note that April 14th will be a Unity Sunday with only one service at 10:00 am.  Easter Sunday is April 21st and our regular 8:00 am service will be at 7:00 am.

THANK YOU to Diane Williams who made some lovely new floral arrangements for our narthex area. The outreach team is looking at ways we can do a bit of a refresh in our foyer/narthex space to make it more welcoming and useful. Stay tuned!
DIGITAL NEWS AND NOTES  Holy Trinity is trying to cut back on the amount of printing that we do every week and you can help! Beginning this week, we will be cutting back on the number of News & Notes we print. Don’t worry, you will still be able to get a physical copy on Sunday if you want one.   Printed copies are available in the Narthex.  However, if you prefer a digital copy, you can always go to holytrin.org/newsandnotes to view it there. Additionally, if you would like a copy emailed to you for your viewing convenience, send an email to office@holytrin.org asking to be placed on the email list for News and Notes.  Please include your email address in the body of your email.  Yes, it comes through in the address line, but it is much easier for us to copy it from the body of the email.  Thank you for your help!

HISPANIC MINISTRY needs your help! Want to make a difference in your community?  We do that.  Every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 we offer both a beginning and an intermediate English as a Second Language class for free to anyone who wants to come.  We make friends for life and help to improve our friends' lives by teaching them English and loving them.  We have 13 students this semester and need your help ! Please contact Peggy Jones at 479-633-2050 if you have an hour or so to spare each week.  We can put you right to work!!

NO HEAD TO THE HEART CONFRIMATION THIS WEDNESDAY Enjoy your spring break but that doesn’t mean you can’t come to Lent service.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE After a long day at the hospital, there’s nothing more appreciated than a home-cooked meal. THANK YOU!!

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH

My body, my choice? We don’t have to settle for so little. Each human body belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:20-21)! He paid by dying and rising to make it His twice over. He is perfecting it after the pattern of His own glorified body. Even on earth and amid adversity, He declares and demonstrates His heavenly kingdom through our bodies. My body, God’s gift! His bidding, my delight!  (Lent II)

LIFE QUOTES  To be pro-life is to show that all life is precious, that the community of faith is there to support and help with every child. To be pro-life is to visit the elderly in the nursing home, to give them the dignity that they have as children of God. To be pro-life is to love the mothers, to love these women who are caught by circumstances, to help them with physical as well as spiritual needs.” Rev. Christopher Maronde, pastor of Saint John Lutheran Church, Decatur, Indiana –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCHSatan goaded Jesus to produce physical proof of His identity and importance (Luke 4:3). But God’s promise and power entitled Him to life even in the absence of bread (Luke 4:4). The evil one still insists we gauge a person by material measures. Thanks to our Savior, no one’s age, appearance, or ability can impair or improve their sanctity. God’s creating, redeeming, and calling Word already renders every human being precious.  (Lent 1)

LIFE QUOTES  People with disabilities and their families have much to offer the Body of Christ, but often the Church sees them as needy—as a mercy ministry—not as valued contributing members. Look for ways for each of them to serve, including the person with disability.” Mona Fuerstenau, Bethesda Lutheran Communities –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

2019 DIRECTORY copies are available on the Giving Table in the Narthex.  Please help yourself.

PUBLICATIONS  News & Notes, Clarion, and Bulletin inserts are all published to keep you informed of things going on at Holy Trinity.  Therefore it is your publication and you need to contribute to it.  The deadline for News & Notes is Wednesday at noon.  Clarion deadline is the 15th of the month.  You may drop off articles in the office, or email them to elaine@holytrin.org.  Email sent to the office often gets buried in the more commercial notices and get overlooked.  We hate when that happens.

LUTHERAN HOUR MINISTRIES This Sunday is LHM Sunday. They have started an incredible initiative to reach those who haven’t heard the Gospel and those who maybe need to hear it from another source. This program is called SENT. It is based on the premise that God has sent each and every Christian to proclaim the Gospel. In order to do this, they are asking for help. There will be a short video towards the end of service with details and our ushers have a handout with more info on this impressive program. Inside there are more details and ways that you can help along with a mail ready envelope if you are ready to help.   You can go to lhm.org to see more of what they do.

GREETERS, READERS, VIDEO OPERATORS, OFFICE HELPERS.  Lent schedules are available in your Narthex mailbox.  We are now putting together the second quarter schedules.  Please let me know if there is a date in April, May, and June that you cannot serve.  April 14th will be a Unity Sunday with only one service at 10:00 am.  Easter Sunday is April 21st and our regular 8:00 am service will be at 7:00 am.

   Thanks, Elaine (elaine@holytrin.org)

DIGITAL NEWS AND NOTES  Holy Trinity is trying to cut back on the amount of printing that we do every week and you can help! For starters, at some point in the future we will be cutting back on the number of News & Notes we print. Don’t worry, you will still be able to get a physical copy on Sunday if you want one. However, if you prefer a digital copy, you can always go to holytrin.org/newsandnotes to view it there. Additionally, if you would like a copy emailed to you for your viewing convenience, send an email to office@holytrin.org asking to be placed on the email list for News and Notes. Thank you for your help!

CANIDATE QUESTIONS The Call Committee will soon be interviewing potential candidates for resident pastor of Holy Trinity and they would like your input. You will find an insert to this News and Notes with an update on the process and places for your questions. Please fill in any questions you would like asked and return to a call committee member by Sunday, March 17th.

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCHGod has a habit of hiding great glory in ordinary and otherwise unfit settings. So, in 30-something, manual-laborer Jesus, the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily (Luke 9:29, 34-35). Through bloody crucifixion, forgiveness and salvation sneak in. Everyday syllables, tap water, bits of bread, and sips of wine smuggle everlasting life. And frightened bellies, frozen labs, nursing homes, and hospitalized comas cradle priceless treasures bearing God’s own image.

LIFE QUOTES  The next time you are burdened with guilt and wondering if God can really forgive you again, look to the cross of Jesus. There He proved His love by giving up His life to pay for your sin. Witness the supreme proof of your forgiveness, which God provided in the resurrection. There He removes all doubts about who He is and what He did for us. We have absolute certainty that we are forgiven and bound for heaven because of Jesus. It’s the truth!” Rev. Jonathan M. Kruschel, St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls, Minnesota –If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE   Hey folks, sorry we had to move the bunk bed build to March 9th.  The weather just wasn’t cooperating, and does not look good for March 9th either.  HOWEVER, WE WILL BUILD THE BEDS ON MARCH 9TH!!  If we need to move inside we will figure a way to do that this time.

The team at Sleep in Heavenly Peace tell me the requests for beds continue to grow, so we really need to get these beds built on March 9th.

Once again, we will start at 10 am, but if you plan to help us you will need to be here at church by 9:30 am for instructions.  I know a few have said they cannot help on the 9th, so we have left the sign-up sheet in the Narthex hoping to get a couple more people to sign up.

We appreciate all your help with this Outreach Ministry event, and if you would like to contribute any additional money, please put it in the offering plate marked—SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE.

                   Thanks.  Dave and Casey

2019 DIRECTORY is available on the Giving Table in the Narthex.

SEA CHANTERS 2019 NATIONAL TOUR  Don’t miss this chance to see  the U.S. Navy Band in concert.  Monday, March 4, 7:00 pm.  Fayetteville High School, 994 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Fayetteville, AR  72701  No admission fee, no ticket price.  It’s FREE!

GREETERS, READERS, VIDEO OPERATORS  The Lenten serving schedule is in your mailbox in the Narthex.

This Sunday is LHM Sunday.

 LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH

Death never comes as a friend. Death always arrives as enemy (1 Corinthians 15:26). It doesn’t offer a gentle and effective solution to distress but instead imposes ultimately greater suffering and difficulty. Attempting treaties with death delivers only captivity rather than the control it advertises. Christ Jesus, crucified and risen for our well-being, exercises authority over how we live and when we die so that we don’t have to bear the burden. (Epiphany VII)

LIFE QUOTES  And what about those mothers who acted on their fears and aborted their child? We need to be there for them as well, assuring them of a loving, merciful, forgiving God—reminding them that there is no sin that Jesus did not pay for on the cross!” Duane Matz, former lay pastor with the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC) and Christian radio announcer. (For those who have made an abortion decision, there is a Word of Hope, Lutherans For Life’s post-abortion healing ministry. Call 888.217.8679 or email info@word-of-hope.org.) If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS - It's that time of year again!  2018 Thrivent Choice Dollars expire on March 31, 2019 so it's time for Thrivent Financial Benefit Members to direct their Thrivent Choice Dollars!!   It's easy and fast to do - simply logon to www.thrivent.com or call 1-800-THRIVENT.  There are several great charities including OUR church that are eligible to receive Thrivent Choice Dollar funds.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please call Steven Schmitt's office at 479.631.8239 or Matthew Taylor's office at 479.631.6633.

SCREEN JUNKY? Can you press a button? Then you are qualified to help run the screens on Sunday mornings! Congrats! It has never been easier to be a part of our Sunday morning worship and help others in their worship. Also, if you are feeling a little creative, we need a few people to help create the service in our new program. This program is super intuitive and easy to use. Cameron has it set up to be very straight forward and would be happy to do a little training. If you are interested in learning more, talk to Cameron!

PINOCHLE CARDS  The March calendar shows that the first Friday in March is the 1st so we will be playing cards this week.  Set up will be at 6 pm with card playing starting at 6:30.  Hope to see most of youand if anyone is interested in joining up, please come on out.  We’d love to have you join us.

CHAPEL CONSTRUCTION The new ceiling is finally finished and the clutter cleaned out. Big shout out to Dave Smith and Bob Bauer, our Trustees, who have been hard at work doing a remodel on the ceiling in the chapel and it turned out amazing. This has been the next step to new and exciting ministries in that wonderful space.

LITTLE DISCIPLES Christ’s final command was to make disciples of all nations. Quite the tall order. Not all of us have the fortitude to Billy Graham all over the world. Fortunately, there are disciples to be made right here in our church, they are just shorter than you might think. Children are always learning and growing which makes this time a great time to teach them of the love of God. We just need people to teach them and right now, we are running a little short (get it!) in that department.  Talk to Cameron if you have any questions.

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH

Blessed are the pretty? Blessed are the popular, the prosperous, the powerful? The Author of Life does not evaluate according to productivity. Blessed are the poor (Luke 6:20ff.)! Blessed are the hungry, the weeping, the excluded and reviled ones among humankind! Blessed are the embryos, the elderly, and the incapacitated persons on account of the Son of Man who brings forth life where the world writes it off.

(Epiphany VI)

LIFE QUOTES  Life is a gift not to be discarded. It can indeed make us weary when we do our work to proclaim life as valuable, and the world continues to abort babies and write prescriptions for people to commit suicide and minimize the value of life in so many ways. Yet, it is encouraging to know we have the gift of prayer to use to strengthen us, knowing the God of life is always in front of us guiding our way, always behind us holding us up, and always beside us keeping us focused and on the right course.” Virginia Flo, Lutherans For Life regional director of Minnesota. If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

HEAD TO HEART PAINTINGS  Those of you that have walked down the west hall towards the chapel may have noticed new décor. Some wonderful paintings have sprung up recently. These were done by our Head to Heart confirmands as part of their service event last month. They painted the frames of two of the bulletin boards in that hallway to freshen up as they intend to use those in the future then they had some fun expressing their faith via paint. Take a minute to enjoy the creativity and worship of our young people. In the future these or other paintings my go on sale to support various ministries in our community.

INTERIM VOTE Thanks to all who voted last Sunday to help determine the future direction of Holy Trinity. If you had not heard, the vote was 78 in favor of calling an Resident pastor – 33 in favor of calling an interim pastor. The call committee will proceed accordingly.

INTERESTING THOUGHT The fact that there's a highway to hell and only a stairway to heaven says a lot about anticipated traffic numbers.

GREETERS, READERS, VIDEO READERS    The Lenten schedule of servers will be published next week.  This is your last chance to let the office know when you can serve.  If you have a date when you are unavailable, please let us know.  Schedule covers the 7:00 PM Wednesday services from Ash Wednesday, (March 6) through April 10.  And also, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday (April 18 and 19). It is far easier to revise the schedule before it is published.

Email sent to the office often gets buried in the more commercial notices and gets overlooked.  We hate when that happens.

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH

Our fear of our own unclean lips (Isaiah 6:5) and slow tongues can make us mute about marginalized lives. That’s why the merciful Maker has touched our tongues (Isaiah 6:7) with His transformative Word and placed His life-giving power upon our lips. We need not doubt that even out of our mouths the Spirit of our Father speaks a wisdom no adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.  (Epiphany V)

LIFE QUOTES  “[T]here’s more … more to life than sensual pleasures, more to love than the shriveled-up version that has captivated our Western imagi-nations. So today, ask yourself, ‘How am I responding to so great an expression of love as what God has shown us?’ Valentinus’s response was to give up his own life. For us, too, a kind of ‘death’ is required—a death to self, a death to the desires that our culture treats as ultimate. Now of course, guys, none of this lets you off the hook with your wives. So don’t forget the flowers.”  John Stonestreet with Roberto Rivera, www.breakpoint.org. If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

SR. HIGH LINKT RETREAT – FEB 15-17TH   Attention Sr High Youth, your LinkT Retreat is right around the corner! This is great weekend of worship, crazy games and adventures, and deep dives into faith. We will leave around 5pm that Friday and be back around 4pm that Sunday. We are past the early bird sign up date but there is still time to register!

GREETERS, READERS, AND VIDEO OPERATORS,   We are working on scheduling for Lent.  Ash Wednesday is March 6, 2019.  We will be scheduling for our Wednesday 7:00 pm services from March 6 through April 10, and also for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, April 18 and 19.  Please let the office know if you are, or are not, available to serve.  If we don’t hear from you, you may find you have been added to the schedule at a time that is inconvenient for you

CAMP TRINITY  Summer camp registration is in full swing at Camp Trinity, the Lutheran Camp on Petit Jean Mountain, with the number of campers registered well ahead of previous years’ pace. Families are encouraged to register early to ensure a spot for their children.

Eight sessions are scheduled for the 2019 season. In addition to traditional camp sessions for students from 2nd through 12th grade, the calendar includes the following four special sessions:

Adventure Camp (June 16-21), which takes high school students off the mountain for a Buffalo River float trip, overnight camping and rock climbing or rappelling.

Arts Camp (July 14-19), a joint venture of Camp Trinity and the Little Rock School of the Arts, a ministry of Christ, Little Rock. Campers in this session, divided between grades 5-8 and grades 9-12, will explore visual arts, performing arts, and literary arts.

Overcomers Camp (July 21-25), where youth (grade 6 and above) will be able to take part in outdoor activities with extra time and assistance as needed.

Family Camp, a short session where children will enjoy camp activities with their parents and grandparents. Family Camp has been moved to a weekend (July 26-28) to make it more convenient for working parents to participate.

 LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH

We have the privilege of participating in divine love. It never just stands by (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). The heavenly love our Savior works in us steps in, especially when conditions become predicaments. This love beholds and brings out an individual’s infinite value no matter what other pressures obscure it (Jeremiah 1:5, Luke 4:33). (Epiphany IV)

LIFE QUOTES  “God has given each of us a limited time to be on this earth, a purpose for that time, and people to share that time with. Don’t wait for a near-death experience to teach you the lesson of appreciating to the fullest what God has given you. Life is too short.” Diane E. Schroeder, former president of Lutherans For Life .

SLEEP IN HEAVENLY  PEACE – BENTONVILLE is a local chapter of a national charity (Sleep in Heavenly Peace).  SHP started as a small act of kindness one Christmas in a garage in Idaho Falls over six years ago.  Thanks to some attention from Mike Rowe and his show, Returning The Favor, SHP has grown into a nationwide charity with over 127 chapters in 39 states.  Their motto is “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town”.  Their mission is to provide top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need.  SHP – Bentonville became a local chapter last Fall.  In that short amount of time in 2018, they gave away over 70 beds!  They currently have over 130 requests for beds outstanding with no beds in their inventory – they gave away their last bunk on Christmas Eve.

The Outreach Ministry Team along with the Journeymen group are partnering with SHP – Bentonville to build 5-7 bunks.  This means ten to fourteen LOCAL children will be off of the floor!  Our build date is scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd from 9am to 1pm.  We need 10 volunteers to help build the bunks.  No experience is necessary!  SHP – Bentonville provides all of the supplies, all of the tools, and all of the know-how!  We plan to use a Thrivent Action Team to provide snacks and water.  If you would like to volunteer to help, please sign up on the bulletin board in the Narthex.  If you know of a local family sleeping on the floor/couch, please contact a member of the Outreach Ministry Team or Journeymen.  The beds we build can be delivered to families we choose if we know of the need in advance.

The cost of this build is $1,750 which covers supplies, mattresses, bedding, pillows, and liability insurance among other things.  This cost will be covered by the Outreach Ministry Team’s budget.  If you would like to make a donation to this event, please place it in the offering plate marked “Bunk Bed Build”.  If you would like to learn more about Sleep In Heavenly Peace, please visit their website:  www.shpbeds.org

LIFE THOUGHTS IN THE CHURCH

It’s never just a personal choice when the devil deceives people into using death as a solution. Baptism into Christ’s family makes us brothers’ and sisters’ keepers. “If one member suffers, all suffer together …” (1 Corinthians 12:26a). Our Gospel-motivated voices can keep endangered neighbors from suffering with life-and-death situations in silence and solitude. Lending our shoulders to help carry their crosses can change hearts, save lives, and gain their fellowship.  (Epiphany III)

LIFE QUOTES  “The most fundamental fact of modern biology is that your body is in a continual state of change and development from cradle to grave. Yet, through all the changes, your identity remains the same.” Rev. Jonathan Lange, district life coordinator for the Wyoming District LCMS --If you wish to support this group, you may do so through their website: www.lutheransforlife.org

SR. HIGH LINKT RETREAT – FEB 15-17TH Attention Sr High Youth, your LinkT Retreat is right around the corner! This is great weekend of worship, crazy games and adventures, and deep dives into faith. CHRISTMAS DECORATION COMMITTEE  Thank you SO much for helping take down the Christmas decorations!  It’s amazing how quickly everything comes down and is packed away!  I would like to specifically thank Shirley Bernthal, Ken Rader, Ted and Erin Reinker, Dave and Christy Lehenbauer, Libby Garner, Dan and Laurie Martin, and Matt and Mattie Bolte for helping!           Casey Bolte

OUTREACH MINISTRY TEAM  The Outreach Ministry Team conducted a survey last Fall.  We combined the results of that survey with the results of the recent survey that members responded to in regards to a new pastor and have come up with THREE ‘focus areas’ for 2019.  They are:  Children, Hunger (local), and Charities (local).  The Outreach Ministry team’s goal is to sponsor at least one outreach opportunity a month for our church focused on at least one of these three things.  We will do our best to have a variety of opportunities so everyone can participate as they are able.

In February, we are teaming up with our own Journeymen Group as well as Sleep In Heavenly Peace – Bentonville to build bunks beds for children in NWAR that are currently sleeping on the floor.  The build date is Saturday, February 23rd from 9am until 1pm.  We will need at least 10 volunteers to help. If you would like to learn more about Sleep In Heavenly Peace, please visit their website: www.shpbeds.org.  Watch for additional details in future News and Notes as well as the Clarion.  If you have any questions, please see an Outreach Ministry Team member – Casey Bolte or Dave Lehenbauer.
