LIFE QUOTES “So microscopic zygotes and embryos may not resemble adult human beings. They may not yet carry out any recognizably human activities. Nevertheless, scientific observations define them as nothing other than human lives, worthy of the same respect the Scriptures assign us all. They look and act exactly like a human being ought to in these beginning stages of her growth.”
Rev. Michael W. Salemink, Executive Director of Lutherans For Life.

USED FLOWER VASES If you have any flower vases not being used in your home please bring and place in a box located on the Garden table. A local flower shop can use these vases and one of our Church members will be picking up the vases and delivering to the shop. Donations will be accepted for the next two Sundays.
What Not to Take into the New Year
Self-Help Books – Trust in God first. Don’t turn to Him as a last resort(Proverbs 3:5, 6)
Tape Measure – Consider only God’s standards. Don’t compare yourself to other people(Luke 18:9-14)
Rearview Mirror – Don’t live in the past. You’ll miss out on what God is doing in your life now(Philippians 3:12-14)
Gavel – Stop wasting time judging others. Instead, pray for them, help them, and team with them) Luke 6:37, 38)
Life Vest – Don’t be overly cautious spiritually. Peter experienced Jesus in a real way because he dared to step out of the boat(Matthew 14:22-33)
Garage-Door Opener – We think we’re networked but often isolate ourselves. God intended for us to live in community with one another(Hebrews 10:23-25)
Handcuffs – Don’t offer excuses about why you can’t help out. God can do amazing things through – and despite – us. Just follow Him, with no excuses(Mark 6:35-44)
n Gregg McCaslin
ONE SOLITARY LIFE
He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in still another village, where He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a house. He didn't go to college. He never visited a big city.
He never traveled more than two hundred miles from the place where He was born. He did none of the things one usually associates with greatness. He had no credentials but Himself. He was only thirty-three when the tide of public opinion turned against Him. His friends ran away.
He was turned over to His enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While He was dying, His executioners gambled for His clothing, the only property He had on earth. After He died, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.
Nineteen centuries have come and gone, and today He is the central figure of the human race and the leader of mankind's progress. All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man on this earth as much as that one solitary life.
